Idaho Real Estate Commission (IREC) Requirements

Please find the scenario that best describes your current status and your desired status to determine what education requirements you must meet. If you are not sure when your license renews, please watch the video below.

If you are on ACTIVE status and this is your first salesperson renewal, you need: 

  • 12 hours post license (8-hour mandatory post license Fundamentals course 
  •  4-hour post license module of your choice)
  • plus 2 different Idaho core courses.

If you are on ACTIVE status and this is your second renewal or greater, you need:

  • 12 elective hours 
  • Two different Idaho Commission Core courses

If you are on INACTIVE  status and want to renew and stay INACTIVE, you need

  • No new CE Required

If you are on INACTIVE status and this is your second renewal or greater, and you want to become ACTIVE, you need:

  • 12 elective hours 
  • Two different Idaho Commission Core courses
    The courses must be completed before your license can be changed to ACTIVE.

If you are on INACTIVE status and have been since you received your Salesperson license, and you now want to become ACTIVE, you need

  •  12 elective hours 
  • Ttwo different Idaho Commission Core courses.
    The courses must be completed before your license can be changed to ACTIVE.

IREC reviews all license renewals and reactivations for compliance with the CE requirements. If you don’t have the required CE hours posted to your record, you will receive an audit letter. Keep your course completion certificates in a safe place!

Idaho’s Core requirement:

Licensees are required to take two unique Idaho Commission Core courses in every active renewal period. Other state’s core courses will not count. Core courses may never be taken more than once for credit.

WARNING: The REALTOR Association’s Code of Ethics courses are NOT the Commission Core course!
